Candle Care Guide

How To Burn Your Candle, Safely

  1. Trim your wicks to around 5mm between each burn. This will ensure to keep sooting to a minimum and your flames at a safe height.
  2. Light your candles away from drafts/fans which can cause the flame to dance around. This can cause uneven burning and sooting.
  3. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  4. When lit, keep in a well ventilated area.
  5. Do not burn for longer than 4 hours at a time. Burning a candle too long can cause the top layer to burn and discolour.
  6. Stop burning when your candle has around 10mm of wax left from the bottom.
  7. Ensure the wax pool remains free of wick trimmings and matches, as any debris in the wax can function as an additional wick, accelerating the candle's burning rate.

Tips for Getting the Most out of Your Candle

For the first burn, don't be concerned if the candle melt pool doesn't reach the edges of the jar. The wax and wicks we use, have been carefully selected to ensure the safest burn for our customers. This being said, we wouldn't expect the melt pool to reach the edges of the jar for the first few burns. When burnt correctly, we would expect any residue to melt, the further down the candle gets.

To get the best out of your candle, ideally do not burn for less then 3-4 hours for at least the first few burns. If burnt for too shorter period of time, for consecutive burns, this can cause the candle to tunnel; effectively wasting some of the beautiful product.
